The scientific community is navigating a period of significant uncertainty. Recent administrative decisions have led to proposed budget cuts and policy changes that threaten the continuity of critical research programs, including those focused on pandemic preparedness, HIV vaccines, autoimmunity, immune deficiency, and food allergy. While some of these cuts have been temporarily halted by legal action, the future remains uncertain, and the potential impact on our work is substantial.
In response, I’m channeling my commitment to science into a personal endeavor: running six World Marathon Majors in 2025 — Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin, New York, and (pending confirmation) Chicago — with the aim of completing Tokyo in 2026. This journey symbolizes resilience and dedication to advancing research in immunology, antibody development, and human health.
Our lab studies how antibodies are generated, evolve, and function — from protective immunity to their roles in allergic reactions and autoimmunity. Your support will directly contribute to sustaining this work, training young scientists, and pursuing answers to questions with real clinical impact.
As a physician, I often share my patients’ frustration with how much we still don’t understand about the immune system — despite how many ways it can go wrong. We can change that — together.
